Special Educational Needs Coordinator – TES Global Ltd

The Post
We are seeking to appoint a Special Educational Needs Coordinator to oversee and manage pupils requiring additional support in the school. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of current best practice, and be able to provide appropriate support for children from Early Years to KS3. We currently have just over 40 pupils with diagnosed learning differences on IEPs (Individual Educational Plans) receiving additional support from the school and an additional 30 pupils requiring some form of help and confidence boosting. The SENCO advises on how best to support and develop all of these children in school liaising with class and subject teachers, the nine 1:1 LSAs and preparing IEPs accordingly. The role will require the successful candidate, on occasion, to liaise with outside agencies including a visiting Educational Psychologist and an Occupational Therapist resident in Kuwait. Strong communication skills are a prerequisite and regular meetings with parents
and teachers will be a part of this overall process. The SENCO will also be expected to deliver various and related ‘parent education’ sessions during the course of the year as a part of our Parent Partnership.
We expect the vast majority of our children to be independent learners by the time they reach Year 6, but we are able to set pupils in smaller groups in Years 6 – 8 in order to nurture their learning. The English School is one of the leading prep schools in the Middle East and as a member of IAPS, BSME and BSO has a reputation for being at the forefront of educational trends. We are very proud of our school and the quality of education that it provides.
Candidates must have British qualifications. They are expected to hold a Bachelor’s degree and a recognised teaching qualification. Prior experience in an international school setting is not essential. If you are considering working overseas for the first time, or even have a significant amount of international experience, then Kuwait might just provide you with an opportunity that changes your life for the good and forever. There is something magical about working at TES and Kuwait has a unique attraction which makes it difficult to leave.
