The Opportunity:
With consumer demand for international retail brands growing dynamically in the Middle East and throughout our global markets, Alshaya is implementing a rapid growth strategy aiming to more than double its turnover of sales and retail coverage within the next three to five years. In order to achieve this ambitious goal, the company has made the decision to create the position of Chief Information Officer, a role which reports to the CEO and based at Alshaya’s headquarters in Kuwait.
The Role:
Responsible for the entire technological direction of Alshaya, the Chief Information Officer sets the overall IT/e-Group roadmap strategy that guides systems architecture and infrastructure, applications and systems development and maintenance, supporting Alshaya’s scalable and efficient operations across all operated regions. The CIO designs and implements the division’s budget for programs and projects, purchases and upgrades equipment, supervises computer specialists and IT teams, and presides over all related projects. This position leads several high profile strategic transformational initiatives that will directly impact the success of the business and contribute to spearhead the rapid growth of Alshaya.
– To design, “own” and deliver the full division’s budget and plans, directing cost management through business initiatives and solutions that affect Alshaya’s efficiency and expenditures across the company.
– To align the division’s objectives and programs to the Alshaya development strategy as per the company’s Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
– To support the division’s internal customers to benefit from data management solutions while focusing on a strategically managed budget to optimise cost and improve efficiency.
– To define and adjust IT standards and technologies to enhance business processes across all divisions and regions.
– To foster a team capable of producing the outputs required, delivering critical implementation projects including supporting internal customers.
– To anticipate major technology changes to advance the company’s position in the competitive landscape.
– To integrate business and technology to innovate, identifying emerging information technologies to be assimilated and introduced within Alshaya.
– To optimize the mix of in-house versus outsourced services, while establishing strategic service provider partnerships.
– To direct, aggregate and manage huge volumes of data via a robust retail focused analytics strategy at the service of all remaining divisions of Alshaya.
– To provide operational guidance to technology teams including architecture, project services, application support, technology services, systems development and quality assurance.
– To ensure resources, processes and activities are continuously reviewed and optimized to achieve company objectives.
The Requirements:
– At least 20 years of IT leadership positions in leading multinational retail/FMCG companies.
– Full complex support function P&L accountability for multiple simultaneous brands and in multiple regions.
– Very strong IT innovation background in a retail/FMCG related segment expertise.
– Successful track record of information technology achievements.
