The Registrar –Pediatrics coordinates, administers and ensures patient care activities for Pediatric patients in accordance with Ministry of Health regulations, Hospital Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules & Regulations and Pediatric Medicine Department Policy & Guidelines.
Education :
Bachelors’ Degree in Medicine followed by specialized training in Pediatric Medicine. Masters’ Degree in relevant speciality.
Trained in Basic Life Support (BLS) desired
Licensing: Valid License from Ministry of Health-Kuwait to practice as a Pediatric Registrar
Experience : 5 years’ experience with minimum 1.5 years’ experience post Masters’ Degree in Pediatrics
RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Duties
Covers the Emergency Room Pediatric patient care activities.
Takes patient history, conducts physical examinations, requests and interprets necessary investigations as the patient’s condition mandates, and contacts the Specialist/Consultant for serious cases.
In-Patient duties:
Conducts daily ward rounds.
Documents patient care in the Hospital record at the time of admission, review and post ward rounds
Attends the rounds with the Specialist/Consultant and ensures that their instructions are followed.
Decides and issues sick leave, according to MOH regulations and policies of the Hospital.
Arranges for the transfer procedure of patients; including contacting the other hospital, stabilizing the patient and completing the referral notes and escorting the patient if required.
Supports the transfer of NICU cases as directed by the Consultant.
Patient Care
Considers the patient’s safety as the first priority while working.
Includes the parents/guardians in discussions concerning appropriate diagnostic and management procedures.
Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates patient care needs.
Follows and applies all instructions as directed by the Consultant/ Head of Department regarding patient management and care
Maintains a work environment that promotes high standards for patient care and ethical behavior.
Participates regularly with other department staff, in decision-making related to patient care
