Petroleum Engineer, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation

Major Duties
  1. a) Complete petroleum engineering studies and economic evaluations in exploration, development and production permits in operated and non-operated assets in addition to, working with senior engineers on the same issues to estimate the true value of KUFPEC assets.
  2. b) Gather data and evaluate acquisition opportunities aimed at estimating the bidding price of these opportunities and presents findings to seniors including inputs/ suggestions on any new venture opportunities
  3. c) Monitor development, testing, and production operations and advises management on engineering matters related to operated and non-operated assets to assist in decision making.
  4. d) Monitor field performance and works closely with other KUFPEC teams of Reservoir Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists and the operator’s personnel to make recommendations for the most cost effective option regarding well locations, field development plan, completions and workovers based on technical as well as business/commercial considerations
  5. e) Track operator actions on wells, facilities as per the Work Program and ensure adherence to the approved budget; seeks and reviews performance reports from operators in order to evaluate their performance
  6. f) Interact with field operations to optimize individual well performance taking into account individual well production limits and process capacity constraints to identify bottle necks and required remedial actions and comments
  7. g) Interpret/design well tests and define data gathering plan; optimize completions, wells and field performance
  8. h) Interrogate operator to make sure that the latest technologies are used while performing technical, economic and financial tasks and make sure that E&P studies are carried out effectively
  9. i) Represent KUFPEC at Workshops, TCM’s and participate in ‘data rooms’ to ensure operator compliance with contractual work commitments, influence JV decision making in KUFPEC’s interests and alert seniors in case of any deviations observed by highlighting potential risks and suggesting remedial action; Also, assists seniors in identifying, assessing and booking reserves
Operational Duties
  1. j) Evaluate/amend technical related operation program (WO, Stimulation, Routine maintenance Etc.) and make sure that the Operator will consider KUFPEC comments/changes and implement the same.
  2. k) Conduct Nodal Analysis (NA) to optimize well production, well deliverability and overall costs
  3. l) Use well surveillance tools (Prosper, GAP etc.) to review/monitor short and long term well outflow performance for producer and injectors and identify future well intervention to ameliorate, when needed, the well out flow performance.
  4. m) Prepare Petroleum Engineering and HSE sections of periodic production performance reports for management
  5. n) Assist UD Engineers in their development and grooming through information sharing and coaching to help improve their technical capabilities and performance.
  6. o) Participate in preparation the Region’s business plan, 5 year plan, budgets and scorecard
Miscellaneous Duties
  1. p) Operate within established ERM policies and procedures and manage job-related risks within established risk thresholds; Obtain management authorizations for risks beyond individual tolerance thresholds.
  2. q) Comply to end user policies, procedures and guidelines for all quality standards currently in force and facilitate and provide necessary support in any audits conducted in own department as per audit role assigned
  3. r) Assume full responsibility for performing HSE related duties and roles as envisaged by HSE policies and standards.
  4. Academic Background: Bachelor degree in Engineering
Related Work Experience (Type and years): Minimum 6 years experience in a petroleum engineering
