About Customer Services 
Customer Services is responsible for a broad range of customer contact and operational processes on behalf of the European Retail and Defined Contribution businesses. The Customer Services team is responsible for managing the contact centre and inbound and outbound correspondence with customers. The team also controls a series of vital operational functions including the scanning of client documentation, automated and manual dealing, pricing of our onshore, offshore and platform fund ranges, transfers, re-registration, retirement and the payment of commission to our introducers. 

About department 

The approach to Business Continuity Management (BCM) is mandated by the FIL Board. FILs’ Group Business Continuity Management provides a framework of policy, governance and minimum standards to ensure group-wide business resilience, continuity of service to customers, meet its legal or regulatory needs, and protection of our brand and reputation in any eventuality. 

BCM policy and framework specifies requirements for establishing, implementing, operating, monitoring, reviewing, exercising, reporting, maintaining and improving a documented BCM process within the context of managing FIL’s overall business risk. 

The key functions of this group include: 
• Europe-wide policy governance and minimum standards 
• Centre of excellence service to business functions 
• Latest BCM trends, promotion of best practice 
• Training and Awareness 
• Ownership for all BCM tool set 
• Crisis Management (24 by 7) 
• Oversight of BCM compliance programme 

Business areas supported include: 
• Primary Responsibility: European function covering UK, Europe, India and Tunisia. 

Overall Job Purpose: 

The successful applicant will support FIL’s business user community at the above locations for implementing and exercising, the complete BCM project lifecycle and related elements within the business continuity programme. Responsible for policy governance and minimum standards; management of local incidents including crisis management; ownership of BCM tool set; and promotion of best practice, training and awareness. 


Your key accountabilities 

Responsibilities include: 
• Maintain the framework and governance around business continuity and disaster recovery. 
• Provide the centre of excellence and promotion of best practices/standards to FIL’s business. 
• Monitor adherence to the policy/standards across the business user community. 
• Challenge and report on the adequacy and effectiveness of each department’s status to senior management. 
• Manage the development of Criticall and Sharepoint Site (BCM tools), implement and roll-out across FIL business units based in UK, Europe, India and Tunisia. 
• Work closely with BCM team based in UK for future trends, good practice and potential risks/threats. 
• Facilitate Crisis Management and Emergency Response Planning (24 by 7 on-call). 
• Coordination of BCM initiatives and projects as initiated by the BCM team. 
• Develop and maintain a training and awareness programme for business user community (BCPs). 
• Work in collaboration with Corporate Function teams to develop/support Crisis Management plans. 
• Develop Europe wide/business functions table top exercises (Crisis Management). 
• Coordination of enterprise wide testing and validation programme, including disaster recovery and business continuation. 

Skills and Experience: 

• Technical: 
• Experience of business continuity with full project lifecycle experience (minimum of 4 years). 
• Proven experience of developing and implementing BCM toolset across the organisation. 
• Good project management skills. 
• Proven experience (minimum of two years) of Crisis Management, incidents covering worldwide locations. 
• Good communications skills with ability to convey complex information appropriately to differing audiences. 
• Certificates from organisations like DRII or BCI would be an advantage. 

• Personal: 
• Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately. 
• Excellent customer service skills. 
• A global perspective with the ability to understand and work effectively in a culturally diverse organisation. 
• Flexible approach to work, prepared to engage in other work streams from time to time.
